Aesop Rinse & Return Service Terms & Conditions

Welcome to the Aesop Rinse & Return service. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully as they govern your participation in this packaging take-back scheme. By returning packaging to us, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

1. Definitions

1.1. "Aesop", "we", "us", or "our" refers to Aesop UK Limited.

1.2. "Client", "you", or "your" refers to the individual participating in the Rinse & Return service.

1.3. "Rinse & Return Service" refers to Aesop’s packaging take-back scheme, which allows customers to return empty and rinsed Aesop packaging to participating Aesop Treatment Spaces or stores for recycling.

1.4. "Participating Stores" refers to select Aesop stores within the United Kingdom offering the Rinse & Return Service. A list of such Participating Stores can be found here.

1.5. "TerraCycle" refers to our recycling partner responsible for the collection and processing of returned packaging.

1.6. "Zero Waste Box" refers to the designated collection container for returned packaging, provided by TerraCycle.

2. The Rinse & Return Service

The Rinse & Return Service is designed to allow our clients to contribute to making our products and packaging more functional, minimal, and sustainable by providing a responsible channel for recycling empty Aesop packaging.

3. Eligibility and Participation

3.1. The Rinse & Return Service is available to clients at our Participating Stores in the UK.

3.2. To participate, you must bring your empty and rinsed Aesop packaging to a Participating Store.

3.3. All containers must be empty, cleaned, and dried before being brought to the Participating Store. This increases the likelihood that the packaging will be successfully recycled.

3.4. We accept all types of empty, rinsed Aesop packaging, including plastic, glass, and components such as lids, pumps, and pipettes.

3.5. We are unable to accept Aesop sachets, any non-Aesop product waste, and/or cardboard packaging, which should be recycled through your usual local recycling services.

3.6. Your packaging will be placed into a TerraCycle Zero Waste Box for collection by TerraCycle.

3.7. After collection, TerraCycle sorts materials according to their properties and composition. They then group similar materials for further processing (e.g., shredding, melting, and reformatting) into new recycled products.

3.8. To help us understand and track customer participation in this service, our Aesop consultants may ask you to create a customer profile for you or link the return to your existing profile.

4. Liability

4.1. Aesop will exercise reasonable care and skill in operating the Rinse & Return Service.

4.2. Aesop shall not be liable for any loss or damage to packaging once it has been handed over to store staff for the Rinse & Return Service, or to TerraCycle, except where such liability cannot be excluded or limited by law (e.g., for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).

4.3. We cannot guarantee that all returned packaging will be recycled in a specific manner or into a specific product, as the recycling process is managed by TerraCycle and depends on various factors.

5. Data Protection and Privacy

Any personal information collected in relation to the Rinse & Return Service will be handled in line with the Aesop Privacy Policy, which is available in-store and on our website footer and here: https://www.loreal.com/en/uki/pages/group/privacy-policy-uki/.

6. Amendments to Terms & Conditions

Aesop reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Aesop website, and your continued participation in the Rinse & Return Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms & Conditions.

Please note that there is currently no loyalty or incentive programme associated with the Rinse & Return Service. We continually review customer feedback and participation data to optimise the service and consider future enhancements.
